Tonight's Word 🌱

Our lifeguard walks on water. "For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.” - Jeremiah 31:25 🌱 Hello friends, I missed sending out the completed devotion last week. Have you ever felt the need to turn off everything and just be still ? For some reason, last Friday, I felt like I needed a complete time out from everything that was going on within and around me, I turned the 'online' switch off, and I spent some quiet time in the present. Only when I came to a complete halt was I reminded of three (3) things -  Just how much the digital world takes up time, energy and attention from us  How more open and susceptible we have become to incoming elements that negatively affect us and not realizing that we can actually turn off the switch, and  Just how grounding it is to spend time reflecting on our life, intentionally and prayerfully. Life is such a beautiful gift. It is full of beauty, treasured memories and new experiences that awaken our

Japanese cherry blossom "My flesh and my heart may fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." - Psalm 73:26 🌱 Tonight, I will be sharing a simple hymn that made its mark on me during a time of solitude. I heard it as purely instrumental on a cello, then after some research, I gladly found the words. I had never heard this song before, but this would be due to it originally being in Japanese. Thankfully, it has been translated into English and provided a smile to my heart at the time. It is inspired by the cherry blossom trees which are world renowned for their seasons of bloom. Interestingly, this season of bloom lasts a week but what a beautiful season it is. Trees and plants have seasons of barrenness and seasons of bloom. In our human experiences, we too go through seasons of barrenness, which could be due to illness, failure, loneliness, grief, loss, stagnancy, etc. These seasons sometimes feel long and never-ending. The Bible assures that weeping

Birthday Reflections 🌱

"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."  - Psalm 139:13-14 It's my birthday! Depending on who is asking, whenever I am asked my age, I either say 22 or 50, to trigger a laugh. I even tease my mum by singing the chorus of "Forever Young" anytime she tries to catch me off-guard by asking me my age. She usually tells me that sooner or later I will have to give the correct answer. But this is me now. Today is my 39th birthday actually. I am an honest 39 today. I still don't feel it. I feel like I am still in my 20's. Well, maybe the late 20's by now, lol. There is so much I can say about my life, but I think the most essential thing I can say using this opportunity, is to publicly say Thank You Creator and Sustainer, Provider and Redeemer for all that You have done for me, in me, and through me. May any good

"Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O LORD. How precious is Your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of Your wings." - Psalm 36: 5-7 Have you noticed? For many, 'tis the season for hearts, roses and chocolates, all in the name of love. It truly is a beautiful thing when individuals can go to great lengths to ensure that the one they love feels loved, cherished, secure in and convinced of their love. Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote a poem to a loved one, which has always stood out in my memory. It begins with the line:  How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. She then proceeds to describe the depths and limitless bounds of her love.  Whether we have knowingly found that special someone to love or not, we all have someone who pulls out all the stops when

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."  - Isaiah 41:10 🌱 Holding hands usually brings to our mind thoughts of love, acceptance, and companionship. However, has someone ever held your hand during a difficult time? It could have been for a few seconds, or even a minute. Most likely, we can testify that it would have had a comforting or re-assuring effect on us. When we feel sad, alone, angry, crushed, anxiety, doubting, grieved, fearful, a hand that reaches out to us reminds us that someone is there, someone cares, and there is a source of strength outside of our failing selves that is offering to share some strength with us and walk with us through this. This side of humanity that exists around us, reflects and points us to an even greater hand that is reaching out to us. When we can't see beyond what our eyes can see, when we cannot feel beyond what is
