Tonight's Word 🌱
Our lifeguard walks on water. |
"For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.”
- Jeremiah 31:25 🌱
Hello friends, I missed sending out the completed devotion last week. Have you ever felt the need to turn off everything and just be still? For some reason, last Friday, I felt like I needed a complete time out from everything that was going on within and around me, I turned the 'online' switch off, and I spent some quiet time in the present. Only when I came to a complete halt was I reminded of three (3) things -
- Just how much the digital world takes up time, energy and attention from us
- How more open and susceptible we have become to incoming elements that negatively affect us and not realizing that we can actually turn off the switch, and
- Just how grounding it is to spend time reflecting on our life, intentionally and prayerfully.
Life is such a beautiful gift. It is full of beauty, treasured memories and new experiences that awaken our joie de vivre. On the other hand, we have our fair share of challenges, and even issues that bubble beneath the surface of our lives, that can sometimes drain us, like a cellphone with apps running in the background that drain its battery. Each one of us faces our unique obstacles, and we know them all too well. At the end of a week, it is always good to reflect on the path we have covered so far, giving thanks, considering also what bothers us, what gives us joy, our dreams, our aspirations, our innermost desire for closeness, peace and oneness with God, and a renewal of resolve for the week ahead.
What I have gathered for Tonight's Word is an image representing the feet of my Jesus walking on stormy waters that have been calmed at His command, a verse of hope and promise, and a song of prayer and encouragement. The reminder of Jesus' feet walking on water re-assures me that He has the ability to calm any kind of storm, without and within. We simply need to know He is the One to call upon and wait on in our time of need and instability. The verse of scripture tells me that He is not only God of the mountain, in the happy joyful moments, but He is also the God of the valley coming to us with compassion, renewal and healing. The song is one that speaks to my own self, reminding myself to be still, and know that He is God.
I trust that someone receiving these will find a meaningful and nourishing word for the journey as I did. Be encouraged, be blessed 🙏🏽🎧
What encouraging words, thank you, Dora
