“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it." -Matthew 13: 45-46 Last weekend, the nation woke up to yet another news headline: Businessman dies after home invasion and robbery. The thieves seemed to have studied his home like a textbook, and calculated ways to bypass all his security measures. The businessman had 2 pitbull guard dogs, a 9-foot high wall, secured at the top by barbed wire, wrought-iron window inserts in the wall, security cameras, and burglar-proofed windows in his 2-story home.  However, at 3 o clock one morning, a gang of six intruders fed the two pitbulls poisoned meat through the gate to silence them, used a hacksaw to burrow their way through the wrought iron inserts in the 9-ft high wall, used a retractable ladder to reach to the first floor, broke through the window and figured out a way inside, and the rest is a tragic history. John 14:3 I remember reading a piece of writing some years ago that described a vision that the writer received. They recalled seeing a large group of believers sensing the darkness of this world and setting off on a journey to heaven, or as some may refer to it, the promised land. As they progressed along this journey, they noticed that the path got narrower and steeper, and little by little, they needed to shed the bulk and the weight of the things they had started with on the journey. The path was challenging, and oftentimes, they would have lost their footing if they hadn't maintained their focus on the light provided by the Holy City ahead. Some got discouraged along the way, and fell away. Almost at the end of their road, the path was so narrow, all they could depend on was holding on with both

Poem - Dropping the Shield

Dropping the Shield  Dora Seecharan ® Some of us have to hurt, break and die many times over, paving a way after our loss for others to live. And some of us inspire love, but not to ourselves, but toward others.  And some of us, our hands are not the right size or fit for love to fit in. It slips out every single time, falls to the ground and loses its colour like a dying fading blue emperor butterfly. And some of us don't know how to pull it out and rest it on the table. We hope it can be felt instead.  And some of us, our hearts are blind and deaf and mute. All we have is our own feeling, our own admiration, our own desire. Just wanting to be free and seen and hidden all at the same time. Or is it that our hearts only love the deaf, blind and mute? And love them out of their shell only for their wings to spread out and fly away? And some of us are probably meant to be the last remaining match in the match box that has worn out on both sides. We are meant to live the numb condi

"How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number— living things both large and small." -Psalm 104: 24-25 Insects are following me! Ok, that was just me being dramatic. Thank God they aren't following me. However, recently, I have been coming across a few insects that have allowed me close enough to them to take their photo. I sure do love getting closeup shots of all sorts of creatures. I like to be able to see the detail our heavenly Father has put into them. Spending time observing the fine details tends to give me a better appreciation of not only the creature itself, but also of the Creator we all share in common. But I digress. Allow me to introduce you to two personalities. Common Green Bottle Fly (Jan 06, 2024) Our first is a humble fly. It has probably been called many unpleasant names, and understandably so due to its function in spreading d

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.  - Psalm 23:1 Ever had a strange craving? Maybe for an exotic fruit, a particular food, or an urge to go the beach? I am not sure if mine would be considered a craving, but it came out of what might seem to be nowhere, and I am starting to think now that maybe it is something the Lord has placed on my heart. I confess that as of lately, I have found myself longing for a pet, more specifically a lamb or a kid. However, my first preference would be a lamb. I am not yet sure how, or if I will even get it but I trust that if it is God's will, one will eventually come to me in the fullness of time. In my moments of reflection however, I try to recall all, if any, knowledge or memories that I have of sheep. My memory goes back to a news article I came across in 2021 where a lost sheep was found, roaming around in Australia. You can view a brief video below on it, courtesy the animal sanctuary and CTV News. Baa-rack the sheep found roaming in Aus
