Tonight's Word 🌱

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this."
- Isaiah 9:6-7
Have you ever looked at a painting and the more you look at it, the more detail you see? Or how about a movie? Have you ever looked at a movie, or read a book, or verse of scripture, or a Bible story, and every time you look at or read it, you pick up on details you missed before? I don't know about you, but those moments for me are like finding treasures. They open up new perspectives, new understandings, new insights!

This week, I have been enjoying attending virtually an online seminar entitled Messiah. The speakers have been exploring the various prophetic references to the Messiah made throughout the Old Testament, and linking them to the life of Jesus on earth, while he lived and fulfilled each one of them. It is like looking at Jesus through various different lens, and being able to appreciate more dimensions of him, rather than simply, though also meaningful, the widely portrayed images of a baby or the crucified man on the cross. There is so much more to Jesus than meets the eye. 💎

This transcends religious affiliation or beliefs. It is a beautiful historical and intellectual discussion on who the Messiah was promised to be, and the deep meaning behind each of these descriptions. For example, did you know that Christ was not just described as the Lamb of God, but in the original language, it can be interpreted "Little Lamb of God"? Or how about the term "Bridegroom"? This term is not to be taken lightly as it speaks to deep intentional love that seals its commitment in marriage to the beloved, which is us. He has also been termed the second Adam. How is this possible?
There are many other meaningful descriptions, each of them full of meaning and insight into who and what Jesus the Messiah was really about. This seminar is free, and for us, my friends. I couldn't not share this with you! 🙂🙏🏽

This is a list of the topics in order.
  • Session 1:  Second Adam
  • Session 2:  Bridegroom
  • Session 3:  Son of Abraham
  • Session 4:  Lamb of God
  • Session 5:  Good Shepherd
  • Session 6:  Son of David
  • Session 7:  High Priest
  • Session 8:  Suffering Servant
  • Session 9:  Son of Man (Saturday 11:45am EDT)
  • Special Concert (Saturday 3:30pm EDT)
  • Session 10:  Bread from Heaven (Saturday 4:30pm EDT)
  • Session 11:  King of the Jews (Saturday 6:30pm EDT)
  • Session 12:  Prince of the Covenant (Saturday 7:45pm EDT)
It has been a really interesting journey, which ends tomorrow, but the good news is, the sessions have been recorded and made available all in one place. You can simply click on the link --> MESSIAH , and watch live at the remaining appointed times, or scroll down on the link page and catch up on the recorded sessions which will be updated as they go. (Also live on Youtube, see link below).

Usually in the month of July, there are whispers of celebrating Christmas in July. Usually it refers to breaking a monotony during the year, and playing carols and putting up decorations that are usually seen in the month of December. These are some of the things that people enjoy. Maybe this series may help us to add another dimension to it. I have been learning a lot. Will you join me as we take a more in-depth look at Jesus? 😊

Be blessed 🙂🙏🏽
