Tonight's Word 🌱
'The Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love."
-Psalm 147: 11
"Hope floats". Have you ever heard this term? What does it mean? It describes the ability that hope gives to rise above and eventually overcome difficulties and hardships, which can otherwise weigh down on ones spirit, slow down ones progress or trigger the temptation of giving up. Picture yourself on a long exhausting journey, and no end in sight. We continue not knowing if we will ever reach our destination. However, if it is a place we have been to before or been told of it before, we know it exists, we have its image in our mind, we walk with the hope of seeing it at the end.
We are acquainted all too well with life's twists and turns, but through it all, we hold on to hope, that things will get better. Some may place our hope in a human being like ourselves, a thing or even an event. These may fail us. For the Christian, our blessed hope doesn't only rest on a change or improvement of circumstance, or even an arrival at a physical destination, which isn't always a guarantee, but more importantly it rests on a person who is even more solid. Our hope rests in a God whose very being reminds us that this earth is temporary, and our troubles also are. Our hope rests in a God who is all-seeing, all-knowing, ever-present, and loves us unconditionally . He holds our hand through our walk and waits for us at the end of it too, all at the same time. Our hope is grounded in the fact that we are not alone, we are seen, we are heard, we have promises that we can hold on to and rest on. We have a reason to smile at any given time, and be cheered up at any given time, once we look up to the source of our Hope.
He has set eternity in the human heart. (Eccl 3:11)This is the hope that buoys us up.
Be encouraged to not give up hope, whatever the circumstances, because the opposite is not an option for us, as it leads to nowhere good. Let us place our hope in God today, and allow it to make our load light and bearable today.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for life. Out of all the gifts You have given us, the one we want to acknowledge and appreciate at this time is the hope You have placed in our hearts to remind us of You, Your goodness, Your mercy, Your providence, and Your eternal plan for us. You have placed the hope of eternity with You on our heart and mind. This helps us to rise above our temporary troubles and keep moving forward to a more lasting goal. Thank You. Remember all those who are on the brink of despair, who are going through emotional turmoil, who are facing challenges that seem insurmountable. Touch them at the point of their need, remind them of the hope they have in You and re-ignite that sense of joy and peace that will allow them to float until they have reached on the other side of their obstacles.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
